“You’re just playing at arguing, you’ve always done that. You’ve had this same argument fifty times already. Maybe we don’t need to have a fight at every dinner?”
Five friends and relatives gather for an evening of relaxed conversation and good company. That is, until the name of an as-yet-unborn child becomes the central issue of the evening, steering the discussions into tense territory. But perhaps it’s not just about the name — maybe it’s about untold secrets or unspoken thoughts?
In the sharp French comedy “The Name”, precise and intelligent humour meets tense family relationships. What begins as a casual, friendly evening quickly takes an unexpected turn that no one could have foreseen.
The award-winning play is by well-known French screenwriters and film directors Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellère, whose work also inspired the 2012 French film of the same name.
