What is the kind of intangible heritage that truly speaks to us?
The exhibition “Salting Whitefish in the Village of Rannapungerja” tells the story of a tradition that feels familiar and simple — yet carries generations of meaning. It has been officially recognized in the Estonian Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

“It may seem simple, but it’s never easy to find that one tradition from our region that truly resonates with us — and that we’d proudly share with others.”
This journey took shape from 22 January 2019 to 14 December 2021.

 The exhibition is open all summer at Pärnaõue Family Café, where you can also taste the mouthwatering salted whitefish – right where the tradition lives!
