The guest performances of the Royal Georgian National Ballet in Estonia with a dance performance “Magic Georgia” on November 28 in Jõhvi, November 29 in Tallinn and November 30 in Tartu.
Georgian dances are a history captured. Always in development: collecting new nuances, but staying true to its roots. Choreographers and dancers migrate along the country, collect fragments and study old choreographic traditions, adjust them and add them to their repertoire.
Each dance conveys the peculiarities of the area where it comes from. Mountain dances are sharp and fast, while the movement of dances from the plains is smooth and soft. Women's dance is graceful and flowing, while men's batches are masculine, fast -paced, dizzying pirates and jumps. Georgian dancers are known worldwide for their unique technique: men dance on the toes for a stiff dance shoe, leaving the impression that they would float.
The new program "Magic Georgia" features dances that have been shaping the face of Georgian stage art for decades. Each of them requires special costumes that reflect the traditional clothing of the inhabitants of different regions. The production uses 370 costumes and unique Georgian music.
The audience seems to travel through the land - from cities to villages, from the mountains to plains, diving into the life and tradition of every corner of Georgia. "Magic Georgia" is not just a number of dance numbers, but a comprehensive performance that gives an unforgettable impression on both the audience and the artists themselves.
The Georgian Royal National Ballet was created by Gela Potskhishvili and Maia Kiknadze, Georgian choreographers in 2008. More than 40 million spectators in 80 countries have been able to accompany dancers who amaze the audience with excellent technical performance, imbidden artistic, daring and unbridled expression, unique to Georgian dance only.
