The main character of the fairy tale, Karepea Jaan, for whom his cat came up with a fancy name - the Marquis de Carabas was a fairly ordinary young man, whose fate would have been quite sad and gray if he had not inherited a pair of boots from his father and the father cat Intsu. Ints in human boots helped Jaan to win both the heart of the princess and the fight with the all-powerful cannibal.
