Art Environment: Excursion at the exhibition “icon chamber”

Art Environment: Excursion at the exhibition “icon chamber”
6 - 8 €
Event organizer: Narva Museum

Iconic chamber - This is the name of an exhibition that introduces one of the most interesting collections of the Narva Museum Art Collection. The exhibition features icons from the 17th and early 20th century, which have reached the museum very different paths. Here are the seizures seized in customs that were taken away at the Narva customs office when attempted illegally to cross the border; During World War II, icons evacuated from Narva to Rakvere and sacred objects that were rescued from destruction during the Soviet era.
The special feature of the exposition is that outstanding examples of iconic art and rare iconography stand side by side with simpler icons that are made away from large iconic centers. Such icons today are of special value and usually encountered in private collections. Poured icons and crosses, made in Old Believers' workshops and decorated with enamel, are noteworthy, as well as a large bilateral altar, similar to that of Estonian Orthodox churches in the last quarter of the 19th century.
We invite you to see icons from the cultural and history perspective and the artistic perspective.

The number of seats is limited.
