Rare Archaeological Exhibition: "The Watertight Sources of the Spirit of Rannapungerja"
A heritage exhibition about archaeological finds from underground and underwater in Rannapungerja and its surroundings, highlighting the history of Rannapungerja as a very ancient settlement. The exhibition is created by well-known underwater archaeologist Maili Roio, whose roots also lie on the shores of Lake Peipus, in Omedu. The exhibition is based on thoroughly researched finds and facts. It helps to explain and interpret them, showing the long history and heritage of Rannapungerja. The oldest finds are dated as far back as 7100 BC.
While the first written records of Rannapungerja date back to the year 1534, in 2024 the village celebrated its 490th anniversary. This exhibition was also part of that jubilee celebration.
