🕰 Midnight in a former Swiss luxury hotel that has stood unchanged for nearly 100 years. Like in an Agatha Christie novel, two men meet in the lobby to conclude a strange contract in this last sanctuary of old Europe.
The negotiations continue even after the contract is signed, and the atmosphere is filled with the sense of an epoch coming to an end. Written in 1986, the play is surprisingly contemporary and examines the roots of Western dilemmas through Mrożek’s trademark humour.
