– I chose the boats according to the locations I wanted to go to... Venice, Nepal...

– I don't remember. So what, honey... whatever happens to you next, you've earned it yourself.

A legendary actress meets an elegant man who is twenty years younger than her. The man is a journalist. He has some questions for the diva - some of them quite personal. Something happens between them. But this is not their first meeting. It was a long time ago, and something happened between them then too. They are both victims and perpetrators.

"Diva" is a firework of acting and a well-made play about how to find the truth between big feelings and washed away memories.

Mikhail Durnenkov is probably one of the best-known and most appreciated contemporary Russian playwrights. He will live in Helsinki from March 2022.

His plays have been staged many times in Estonia. In December 2024, the Vaba Lava production "Healing" (directed by Elmars Senkovs) premiered in our large hall, with Chulpan Hamatova and Julia Aug. In November 2024, the premiere of Durnenkov's "The War Has Not Begun" (directed by Artjom Garejev and Viktor Marvin) was held at the Punkt theater. In March 2024, his "Eisenstein" (directed by Julia Aug) came to the stage at the Estonian Drama Theater. In 2020, Karl Laumets staged his "Utopia" at the Russian Theater, in 2018 "The Hip Revolution" (directed by Yuri Kvyatkovski) was completed in collaboration between the Ugala Theater and the private theater R.A.A.A.M., and in 2013 the joint production of the Russian Theater and the Von Krahl Theater "The (Easiest) Way to Quit Smoking" (directed by Ivan Strelkin) was born.

The world premiere of "Diva" took place in March 2025 at the Swedish Theater in Helsinki in cooperation with the Klockricke Theater (directed by Dan Henrikson).
