Aira Rautso's exhibition "Between Two"

In the Jõhvi city gallery, you can see the exhibition of paintings by Jõhvi Art School's art teacher Aira Rautso "Between Two" from October 6.
How far can an image be taken before it becomes unrecognizable? And how accurate can it be painted before reality becomes something unreal? Aira Rautso's exhibition "between the two" is located precisely between these two questions - abstraction and hyperrealism, on the border between the visible and the perceived. In abstract paintings, the image is reduced to color, surface, rhythm and space. In hyperrealistic ones
in the works – depicting glass balls, flowers and portraits – attention is focused on the details of the visible world and its precise observation.
These two approaches may seem opposite at first glance, but in Aira Rautso's work they form a dialogue. In one, the artist creates space for imagination, in the other, he stops the moment and focuses his gaze. In both cases, the focus is on the desire to see more than meets the eye.
"Between the two" is the space where the image sometimes disappears and sometimes sharpens, where precision can turn into abstraction and abstraction can become recognizable again. It is a movement between detail and generality, freedom and precision, visible and invisible.
