We’re excited to announce that the Night Cinema returns to Ida-Virumaa for the fourth summer in a row! From August 8th to 29th, the open-air cinema will travel across the county, visiting both familiar and new locations. This year, we begin in the park of Mäetaguse Manor, then continue to Ahtme Central Square in Kohtla-Järve, the lighthouse area in Narva-Jõesuu, the central square of Kiviõli, and conclude the program on the stairs of Sillamäe's Mere Boulevard.

This year's cinema nights focus mainly on Estonian films, with a theme centered around water — fitting, as Ida-Virumaa lies between three bodies of water. Of course, we’re also proud of our southern neighbors’ achievements, and on two evenings we’ll screen the animated film “Flowing On”, which brought both a Golden Globe and an Oscar to Latvia for the first time in the animation category.

We’ll also pay tribute to sports, as Tallinn is the European Capital of Sport in 2025. The program includes a fresh documentary about Estonian tennis star Anett Kontaveit titled “Anett”, as well as a classic feature film dedicated to motorsport fans — the legendary “Dangerous Curves” directed by Kaljo Kiisk, a filmmaker from Ida-Virumaa. Alongside the classics, we’ve added one of 2024’s most moving Estonian feature films by the new generation — “Fränk” by Tõnis Pill, which has already attracted over 100,000 cinema-goers and sparked important societal discussions.

We warmly welcome all film lovers to enjoy beautiful summer nights together in Ida-Virumaa! Each screening will be preceded by a traditional cultural quiz with symbolic prizes.

We truly hope everyone will find something to enjoy in the program. Bring your family and friends, dress for the weather, bring your good mood — and come enjoy magical open-air cinema evenings!
